Why I Love The God Story - 21 Jun 2013

Marlies is one of this term's Vision Course students, the Vision Course is committed to giving it's students a strong foundation in the Bible and so two days of their week are committed to hearing from world-class teachers on all aspects of theology. As a part of this, the students work through The God Story, an amazing teaching resource that looks at the entire biblical story in Chronological order. We caught up with Marlies and asked her to write a peice about her experience learning from the God Story. She titled her blog 'Why I love about the God Story' and this is why:

The God Story goes back to the beginning, to the stories I’ve heard so much, and could tell you inside out. I know them. At least, that’s what I thought. But I was proved wrong. There are new things to discover, and Adam Cox does that in a way that really speaks to me. He’s talking about details, about things that could easily go unseen. He puts that in a simple but powerful way, and the stories become more alive again. For me, it changed the way I see the stories in the Old Testament. It made me want to read them again. But also, it gave me a new foundation. Because Adam starts in Genesis, the beginning of the Bible, he starts where it all began. He goes back to why we are made, and yes, he spends quite a lot of time on that. The first part of the God story, he stops after three words and spends a whole session about those three words. Boring? Not at all. There is so much value in those three words. Value that needs to be discovered, to fully understand the rest of the Bible.

So, I would encourage you to listen or watch the God story. Just because it goes back to where it all began, and brings the foundation back. A foundation on which we can build. And yes, at times Adam spends a lot of time on what might seem so little, but it is so important to really grasp those details and see how they work out in your own life.
