City of London Boiler Room - raring to go!! - 4 May 2005

The carpets are in, the electrics installed, the paintwork complete and the phone-lines are live... We're *almost* ready to move into the new City of London Boiler Room. Incredibly, less than a year ago this place was a junk-filled basement, and none of us were even dreaming of anything more than a bit of extra desk-space for the 24-7prayer UK Base. And yet, here we are, still overwhelmed at an extraordinary few months... wandering around the very ground where John Wesley began his London-ministry, about to embark on an adventure that follows a strangely similar path in many ways.

If you're new to the Boiler Room idea, then please have a read of Red Moon Rising, or dig your way through the Boiler Room website (there's a brand-spanking-new-one on the way, soon!). We're really excited about how this will take shape so close to the finance/business 'square mile' - please join with us in prayer!

Other ways that you can 'join with this' include;

[] Calling All Artists! Jude Smith, the City of London Boiler Room 'Abbess' is hosting a couple of 'Artists Weekends' in the building 7th-9th May, 20th-22nd May) prior to the official launch, just to get the place 'looking more lively' - we'd like artists to come and paint-and-pray in certain areas. Contact Jude on [email protected] if you're interested, for more details.

[] sofas and chairs: We'd really like this Boiler Room to look/feel good for those who visit. Ideally, we'd like some really good sofa donations (as 'new-looking' as possible!), and some chairs too. If you think you can help, again, please contact Jude (as above).

[] the 24-7prayer UK Base will probably be moving across to an office in the new Boiler Room next week (we've already dragged a few desks in! Woo Hoo!), which means that phone-numbers and addresses will be changing. It will also give us more space to welcome volunteers - if you've been thinking about volunteering some time/skills to serve 24-7prayer, please do get in touch and we can discuss the possibilities. We're hoping to develop a good office team of web-people, writers, prayer-room supporters and pray-ers.

[] having the Base there also means that we will be far more 'open for prayer', most weekday daytimes. If you'd like to come and visit/pray, please email Jude or Phil Baldwin on [email protected] - they'll know when the good times are. Heh.

It's very likely (although not definite yet) that the very first week of 24-7prayer will take place in the City of London Boiler Room from Friday 10th June until Friday 17th June, and we'll probably launch *officially* at the end of the week, on the 17th. You are more than welcome to join in by coming and praying as a part of that first week, although we will probably have to make the two Friday evenings ticket-based events, due to number restrictions. We'll post more details here, nearer the time!

We're so grateful for everyone's practical support, encouragement, prayers and financial support - more of all of that is still needed, but we are well on our way! Keep in touch with progress on the blog - http://cityoflondonboiler.blogspot.com/
