UK: can't wait for the weekend to begin...24-7prayer hits the clubs - 13 May 2005
Party at Pentecost: Clubbing weekender 12-15 May....
God is definitely up to something in clubland. He has been raising up and connecting Christian clubbers, DJs and promoters across the UK, Europe and further afield, building up a passionate and expectant army to reach out to all those involved in the clubbing industry.
In London, a team of us have been touring around seven of London’s most influential clubs, praying and worshipping as we go and making ourselves available to whatever God wants us to do.
There is also some very cool stuff going on in Southampton, Portsmouth, Woking, Bournemouth, Reading, Sheffield, Liverpool and many other towns, with a real focus on building relationships through putting on club nights or regularly hanging out at a particular club and basically trying to be a witness in the places that we love to move and groove in.
As God has so obviously been connecting us all up and building a network for us to support and encourage each other, we thought it would be cool to communally cry out to God for more of Him.
This is going to happen over this weekend 12-15 May and people are going to be responding in different ways. In London, we’re going to have a prayer and worship sesh on the Friday night…we will then get out and about on the Saturday – praying in the clubbing shop Cyberdog and later going out to pray and worship at one of our favourite club nights at The Cross. We’re pretty hardcore so we are also aiming to go to the after party and see what happens! In other towns, people are going to put on a club night, go out clubbing and praying, or simply put a little time aside to pray.This weekend is actually Pentecost weekend so we will be praying in particular for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit on clubland and all of us with a heart for seeing God’s transforming power in this environment. We will also be giving thanks for all that He has been doing so far….yes Lord, you are awesome!
