Free Download: Dublin Seminar Sessions - Creativity - 13 Nov 2013
We are releasing free audio downloads of all the seminar sessions from the International Gathering in Dublin. The Gathering hosted 7 different seminar streams: Creativity, Leadership, Church, Justice, Prayer and Mission - each stream had 4 seminars in total. We will be releasing a new stream every couple of days, today's release is 'Creativity':
Creativity stream overview:
It all began with God’s creativity. The story of creation is the story of the passionate God putting his glory on display through his own creative expression. Made in his image, there is a holy calling on our lives to reflect his glory though our creativity. This stream looks at the Biblical basis for this calling, practical steps for nurturing creativity, the prophetic impact of creative expression and creativity as a response to God’s heart for the world.
Session 1: Steve Stockman - Celebrating God’s creativity in culture
When asked recently about Christian rock, Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan answered, "I think Jesus would be into better bands!" Is he right? Could it be that there are better conversations about Jesus going on in the mainstream arts than in the Bible Bookshop arts? Might God be speaking to the Church and world through the mainstream arts? This seminar talks about seeking God's voice in unlikely places.
Session 2: Lisa Borden and Guests - Celebrating God’s creativity in our lives
Contemporary poet Mary Oliver describes her work as “Standing still and learning to be astonished.” Caught up in a hectic results-driven world, we know very little of this kind of centering that nurtures our creative selves, yet we are made in the image of The Marvelous Creator and called to be like Him. Beginning with God as the source of all creativity, Lisa discusses practical ways to grow our creativity.
Session 3: Dave and Tara Powers - Celebrating God’s creativity in prayer and worship
Dave and Tara Powers tell some extraordinary and fun stories about encountering God through an "ancient/new" form of worship and prayer they've stumbled into. James 1:22 tells us that if we just hear the Word but don't do what it says, we're fooling ourselves. Kingdom Mischief awaits!
Session 4: Greg Fromholz - Celebrating God’s creativity in mission
Today’s technology, good editing and special effects means we no longer need to be present to communicate a compelling gospel story. This seminar seeks to bring the incarnate back into creativity in mission.
On Friday we will be releasing the 'Leadership' stream
