UK: Parliament and Whitehall 24-7 - on your marks... get set...! - 14 Jun 2005

It's now FIVE days to go until we launch the 2005 Parliament and Whitehall week of 24-7prayer. 19th - 26th June 2005. Join in!

Here's some of the latest news, plus some snippets from recent emails;

- "We were thinking about bringing half a dozen 16 - 18 year olds up to London to pray on the Friday June 24th."

- "We lead the Intercession teams at St. Andrew's, Rev. Dr. Mark Stibbe is our Vicar..." These guys will be praying through Friday night for "the week of the 24/7 prayer for Parliament."

- New Zealander, David Rowe, is planning to bring a team from YWAM's 40Days ministry to join in with the prayer-walking one day, and to cover one of the night-shifts.

- prayer gatherings have now been arranged with the Christian groups in the Lib Dem and Conservative Headquarters. Please keep praying for Labour's CSM group (where Phil Baldwin has recently started work! His first task was to get in touch with those organising the 24-7prayer week to find out how to get involved. Hehe).

- MPs from all political Parties are planning a very special meeting to worship and pray and seek God right in the middle of the 24-7 prayer week. *Please* pray for this.

- a worship and prayer gathering will take place in the Ministry of Defence's central courtyard, organised by Christians there.

We could go on... and on. There's a growing swell of interest and anticipation. As we humble ourselves and pray and seek God's face and turn from our wicked ways, Heaven responds... Come on!

THINGS YOU CAN DO...

1) BOOK A NIGHT-SHIFT. We'd like churches and groups to take on praying-through-the-night, from Sunday 19th until Saturday 25th, 8pm until 8am each night. The best way to do this is to carve the night into hour-slots and then to get a rota set up - people can agree to pray for an hour slot, and then 'pass on the baton' to others. We'll be in touch with each night-shift group, before they start (so that we can pass on 'latest news' and things-to-pray-for), and then the following morning (to gather feedback, stories and things-to-feed-into the next day's praying). This woked *really* well last year.

2) JOIN THE PRAYER-WALKING. Every week-day, from 10.30am, meeting in and setting off from Queen Victoria Park Gardens. And then at the weekend, we will meet in the same Park, but set off at 1.30pm (with a picnic!).

So, come on, get involved. Join in with the Christian staff and MPs, with countless Christians around the UK (and beyond!) - let's support them and pray, as they pray, for Parliament, for Whitehall and for the UK. COME ON!"
