Prayer Room testimony: when we talk to God, He talks back to usHarriet Thayre - 19 May 2014

We always love hearing people’s first experience in a Prayer Room. Harriet has recently joined the Emmaus Road Boiler Room Community in Guildford, UK, and here is a piece from her personal blog about her amazing first experience in a Prayer Room and her dream that night:

So I walked in, excited to spend 2 hours of quality time with Jesus. As soon as I closed the door behind me, I just stood there in amazement, the room had been transformed by peoples prayers and stories and praise. My eyes welled up, I wasn't sad, I was just moved.

Saying "Jesus was there" is an understatement; Jesus was owning that place!

I spent the first half an hour or so looking around, re-praying other peoples prayers, reading words of thankful praise alongside cries for help, listening to worship being played from the CD player and taking in the presence of the Spirit.

It wasn't long until I was fully absorbed in the whole experience. My first ever prayer room experience. I spent time writing down and speaking out prayers, singing along to the worship music, drawing pretty pictures (creative praise is the best kind!), and sometimes just resting in his presence and waiting upon Him. It was an incredible experience and I left feeling refreshed (and covered in every colour of pen... Apparently I still can't colour within the lines).

But it wasn't until I had gone to bed that night that God really spoke to me...

That night I had a dream. I was walking to the Prayer Room as I had been earlier that day, but this time I noticed a huge mirror running down the middle of the building. It had been there all along but we we had been living on one side of the mirror for so long that we didn’t even notice it any more. Suddenly, God showed me the other side of the mirror, it was beautiful, I stood in amazement - it was Heaven!

God started talking to me about how close Heaven is to earth, there's only a thin man made barrier stopping us from witnessing it, and by chiseling away, bit by bit, we will be able to see all He has promised

The Prayer Room provided a beautiful place to talk to God, and when we talk to God, He talks to us.

All in all, my first experience in a Prayer Room was incredible.
