#prayeralert: Attacks in Mpeketoni, Kenya: 49 lives lostLaura Gish - 17 Jun 2014

Mpeketoni, a coastal city in Kenya, needs your prayers

On Sunday night, residents of Mpeketoni gathered to watch the World Cup on TV. But soon after coming together, this gathering turned to bloodshed as a large group of extremists invaded the town.

Many lives were lost, as residents, some of whom did not know or speak their language, were targeted and killed as hotels and vehicles were set on fire.

One witness stated that he watched his two brothers lose their lives simply because they did not speak their language.

The assaults lasted from Sunday night until early Monday, when the attackers finally fled gunfire from security forces in the area. It is reported that at least 49 lives were lost as a result of the assaults.

Let’s get on our knees for our Kenyan brothers and sisters.

  • Pray that God releases His healing waters on the town of Mpeketoni. Pray He comforts people in this time of turmoil and brings peace to the families who have witnessed this tragedy and experienced loss of their loved ones or damage to their property.
  • Pray the Word of God would be available in every domain. Pray the people would not forget the truth of His Word and would cling to His promises daily.
  • Pray the security forces would strengthen in light of this situation and that they would be strong and courageous in defense of their people
