#prayeralert: Boko Haram Is Gaining GroundLaura Gish - 8 Sep 2014

Boko Haram is on the move again. The group that used to employ hit-and-run attacks is now holding onto territories they invade. Armed with stolen rocket launchers and armored vehicles, the militant group has now captured the north-eastern town of Michika. Residents report they are gaining territory. They have taken over 11 small towns along the Chad and Cameroonian borders.

Fear, concern, and panic are growing among residents in northeastern Nigeria. Thousands have fled villages and towns where Boko Haram has entered. Many are taking refuge in the already heavily populated cities. Nigerian military is making efforts to fight against the militant group. However, Boko Haram has stepped up its offensive.

Pray against the efforts of this militant group.
Pray for safety for the people of Nigeria.

  • Ask God to intervene and stop the spread of control and attacks that Boko Haram is making.
  • Pray for safety. Specifically pray for the immediate safety of those who live in northeastern Nigeria.
  • Intercede for the Nigerian military. Pray their strategy and efforts would be empowered by God to defeat the evil deeds of this militant group.
  • Ask God to protect the missionaries, churches, and other organizations in Nigeria. Pray that the Word of God would be available and cause their faith in God to rise — that people would call on the name of Jesus in this time of crisis in their nation!
