The Auction - Presencia '14 - 22 Sep 2014

If you have ever been to a 24-7 Gathering you would have experienced 'the auction'.
These auctions aren’t about picking up a bargain; they're about extravagant giving: about paying far above and beyond what something is worth, to support causes for whom the need is so great.
£3200 (that’s three thousand two hundred) for a second hand tshirt?!
It’s always a highlight of the weekend. I remember being in Frankfurt two years ago and watching two halves of the room team up and battle it out for a laptop case - everyone throwing in whatever change they had until each side was bidding thousands - it is such a privilege to be a part of a movement that is so incredibly generous.
So – this is how it works…
We ask people to get creative; to make something around a theme, and bring along their work to add to the auction table. Over the past few years it’s been tshirts, shoes, scalves - and this year, we’re going for (drumroll please…)
Bags.
SO. Here’s what you need to do…
1. Find a bag – it could be a backpack or a purse or anything passable as a bag.
2. Get creative with it. Make it personal and make it worth bidding for – there’s going to be some competition on show…
3. Bring it. Arguably the most important step. Anyone can make a bag – but its those who can remember to put it in their suitcase that really stand out
4. Get your bid on! There’s going to be a lot on offer and it’s an awesome opportunity to give – so make sure you bring your piggy banks/purses/bars of solid gold
The auction will be on the Saturday night after the fiesta.
And all the money, of course, will be going to a great cause when we get back...
