#prayeralert: Floodwaters Devastate Himalayan Regions of India and PakistanLaura Gish - 18 Sep 2014

More than 480 lives have been lost and 200,000 people were still stranded on Saturday.
Rescuers struggled and risked their own lives to reach those dispersed from the floodwaters in the Himalayan region of India and Pakistan.
Even though Monsoons are seasonal in this region, devastation from these floods came as a surprise. “This is not a flood,” the Kashmir disaster response chief said. “This is a tsunami.” Top officials say these are the worst floods in over a century.
Animals have died and their bodies are floating around. Fear of water-borne diseases is of major concern. Roads are impassable, making it difficult to help survivors. Authorities are using helicopters and boats to deliver food and to rescue individuals. Winter is approaching and the clock is ticking. It is only 65 days away from the first snow forecast. There is still much to be done.
Please pray for those affected by the floods.
- Pray for India and Pakistan. Pray that rescuers would be able to find all the survivors. Ask God to protect and provide for survivors as they wait for rescue teams.
- Pray that officials, volunteers, and rescuers will be able to establish rehabilitation centres and reach all the survivors before the first snowfall.
- Pray against any rise of disease. Ask God to send plenty of workers to clean the streets that are filled with debris and dead animals.
- More doctors are needed. Not only have many people been injured, but they are suffering from depression. They’ve lost everything. Pray that God would send His disciples who practice medicine and psychology to minister to these people. Ask God to create divine appointments for them to share God’s Word with their patients and bring many into the kingdom during this time of crisis.
