Call to pray for Scotland - 27 Nov 2014
Through an initiative called ‘The Stand’ there has been non-stop prayer running in Scotland, every hour since the 30th Nov 2013.
This Sunday (30th Nov 2014) is St. Andrew's Day and Christians from all over Scotland will be gathering outside the Scottish Parliment building in Edinburgh between 2:45pm and 3:45pm. The vision is to surround the parliament building with people praying and for this they will need about 500 people to attend, at 3:33pm they will declaring Jeremiah 33:3 and calling out to God for the nation.
If you cannot make it Edinburgh then they would still like you to join them in prayer, here are some prayer points to focus your prayers:
- St Andrew is known as the disciple who ‘brought people to Jesus’. Pray God’s blessing on the many and varied outreach activities taking place all over Scotland, that they would touch many lives and ‘bring many to Jesus’.
- Pray that more churches will become active in reaching out to their communities, and that once again Scotland will be known for its missionary work, both at home and overseas.
- Pray for the governmental leaders in Scotland, especially Nicola Sturgeon as she steps into her new roles as leader of the SNP and Scotland’s First Minister, and for the new depute SNP leader, Stuart Hosie – for God’s wisdom and plans to prevail in their lives and all their decisions and activities (1 Tim 2:1-2).
- Pray for more Christians to become actively involved in the political life of this nation and to stand for election to the Scottish Parliament, so that the Christian presence and influence in the Parliament and Government would increase.
Continue to intercede for Scotland – that ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done’ in our nation.
