7 Days until the army invades... - 23 Nov 2015
With war in Syria continuing to disrupt and strike fear into the lives of millions, we received an email over the weekend with an urgent prayer request from some of our close friends in the 24-7 movement, living in Lebanon. The email read:
“This week the Lebanese army came to one of the Syrian camps where we hold one of our schools and told us that the whole camp needs to be evacuated.
We have been given one week to pack and leave.
These are not empty threats; others have also been warned - we believe that 10,000 people will be displaced this week.
For us, it means that our education centre has to be moved. For those living in the camps, their lives are now at risk. We spoke to families who have just paid a year’s worth of rent; money they will never get back.
The insecurity and instability is huge.
It’s winter. People can't afford electricity; how can they afford the costs to move? How can they quickly find another place to go?
What will they do with their families; where will they sleep?
Time is running out and we need prayer desperately.”
Please join with us to pray for these people in urgent need of protection and safety
Pray for wisdom for our friends in Lebanon as they meet with and speak to refugees.
Pray for families moving in the middle of harsh weather and difficult conditions.
Pray for students; that their education won’t suffer during the move.
Pray for seeds of faith that have been planted through the work of our friends in Lebanon to grow and not be snatched away.
