A Forgotten Nation in need: An Appeal to Pray for South Sudan - 18 Aug 2016

It hasn't made news headlines, but this week we received an email update from Justin Badi, a friend of 24-7 and a Bishop in South Sudan, where violence and conflict has created uproar all over the country. . He has appealed to us for prayer. Please join with us praying today. Justin writes:

“South Sudan entered into civil war in 2013, but in August 2015 a peace agreement was signed by the parties to end the war and form a transitional government.

However, in May this year, the transitional government was formed but shortly after, killings started between the different parties on 2 July in the city of Juba and have continued since.

Armed conflict and attacks on civilians mean that thousands have been killed, and over 45,000 people have been forced out of their homes; seeking refuge in neighbouring countries.

Those who are left behind are exposed to hunger, disease and continued torture, with more than half of the country’s population in need of humanitarian assistance."

Please pray for South Sudan:

Pray for Peace: Pray that the warring parties resolve political differences and embrace peaceful resolution to end the suffering of the innocent people.

Pray for political leaders: Pray for wisdom and guidance for political leaders locally and internationally to end the conflict in this young nation.

Pray for humanitarian aid:  Pray for organisations to be able to provide relief assistance to all of the victims of the current crisis.

Pray for Church leaders: Pray that the Church will unite and stand firm, continuing to console the hurting and grieving, and will share God’s love and reconciliation to all people.
