Awakening the Dawn: Less than a week til Geneva'16Ian Nicholson - 19 Oct 2016
24-7 Conferences are always a powerful time of gathering together. As we approach Geneva’16 - our Europe and Middle East Gathering - we are expectant and ready.
Nearly 500 people from 30 nations will meet in one of the most strategic cities on earth. As we approach our conference, we’re challenged by the brokenness of our world and desperate for the Holy Spirit to be in our midst.
Even if you cannot join us for our conference, we would love you to pray that this time would be inspiring, city-changing and that its impact will ripple out across the nations.
7 Ways to pray for Geneva’16
Geneva – City of high finance
Switzerland has the highest nominal GDP in the world; the nation refines more than 70% of the world’s pure gold. Pray Geneva will be a city of blessing; may there be a release of resources to 24-7 initiatives and Christian ministries across Europe.
On the Saturday morning of our conference we’ll take our annual offering – a key time for the 24-7 family to invest into the movement for the coming year. Pray that all that is given will be multiplied many times over in kingdom impact.
Geneva – city of refuge and welcome
John Calvin himself was a refugee, and the city has historically been a place of welcome. It is now the base for the UNHCR, helping refugees around the world. As millions are desperate and displaced across Europe and the Middle East, pray they will find home and a future with hope.
In Geneva we’ll be joined by many 24-7 activists working with refugees and some refugees who are discovering a new home in Europe after moving from crisis situations in the Middle East.
Geneva - city of the nations
Geneva is home to over 30 major International organisations – from the World Council of Churches to the United Nations. Pray our gathering will be an influence for righteousness, mercy and kingdom values.
Over 30 nations will be gathering in Geneva for our conference – pray that as we come together in unity and friendship, that Jesus will reveal Himself and inspire dreams of hope and renewal.
Geneva – city of the Word
The Geneva Bible was one of the first and most historically important translations of the Bible into English. It was the Bible used by Shakespeare, Bunyan, Knox and Cromwell.
The Bible is central to Geneva’s story. Pray for the speakers at our conference, and that churches in the city will faithfully proclaim God’s word.
Geneva – the Reformation city
Nearly all the main leaders of the Reformation spent time in Geneva discussing, studying and praying; many on the run and in fear of their lives.
The week after Geneva‘16 marks the first Reformation 500th anniversary event in St Peter’s. Other events will follow during 2017 across Europe. Pray for a new and deep unity to emerge throughout these events.
Geneva – the capital city of peace
Just last month, Geneva was the base for Syria peace talks. Two weeks after our conference there will be the third Geneva Peace week. Geneva is known as a centre for peace and reconciliation.
Pray for places of conflict to find a miraculous and rapid resolution. Pray for prophetic political voices among the nations to rise.
Geneva – Awaken the dawn
As we meet together in this wonderful city for our conference, pray that lives will be changed in a way that will have an eternal impact. Pray for radical movements of students and young people becoming world changers. Pray for new generation leaders to rise up in the church, business, education, entertainment and political sphere.
Finally, amidst all the shaking, pray for a new day for Europe and the Middle East.
