Advent Podcasts '16: The Selah Series - 28 Nov 2016
This Advent, join us as we stop and pause each weekday to "Selah"...
The Word “selah” pops up 71 times across many of the Psalms. Its meaning is ambiguous, and many scholars are still debating what it actually means.
“Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory! Selah” - Psalm 24
But one of the most common ideas is that the word “selah” means to stop or to pause; to reflect carefully on the significance of what’s just been said.
This Advent, we’re practicing what “Selah” means with our Podcast series. We’re taking one minute, each weekday, to stop. To pause. To reflect on one part of one famous passage of the Bible used across the Advent season…
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7
Join us each day of Advent to take time out to reflect and prepare for the birth of Jesus, the Messiah. We invite you to stop and pause and learn the habit of Selah.
The Selah Series can be downloaded on iTunes and our podcast webpage. Alternatively, you can find each episode across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
