Called to Go: Mission Teams 2017Brian Heasley - 27 Dec 2016

"Mission is not just something we 'do' - it is part of who we are..."

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'”
- Matthew 28: 18 – 20

At 24-7 Prayer our hearts have always been drawn to mission - from prayer comes a passion and desire to share Jesus wherever we go.

We are all called to mission - to go, to make disciples, wherever we are, at any given time. We are the people of the great commission;  the ones called to bring the good news of the kingdom to all we meet. This wasn’t just a commission for some long-haired radical zealots. It was a commission for everyone who chooses to follow Christ. Wherever God has placed us, we are called to go: to our next-door neighbours, our workplaces, campuses and communities.

Mission is not just something we ‘do’ - it is part of who we are; our identity in Christ.

There are times when we need to stretch ourselves and grow in our understanding of what it means to live as missional people; how we can best serve in our local communities and contexts. Yet, there are also times when it is good to give our lives to something other than our own dreams; to serve in a completely different context.

There is something prophetic in going on a mission team, it’s a stake in the ground kind of moment -  a proclamation of choosing to live differently. On a mission team, you get the opportunity to serve communities, to help other people and to learn about other cultures.

Our 2017 mission teams are all based within local communities - an opportunity to meet other Christians; to learn, serve and grow together.

We know many people who have gone on mission teams and their lives have been transformed. Some even went on to live overseas and plant brand new missional movements. But almost all who go on a mission team return with renewed hope, renewed zeal, and renewed confidence to outwork the mission of the kingdom in whatever setting they have been placed.

Wherever you’re called to on a daily basis, take the opportunity in 2017 to go somewhere new. Be part of a 24-7 Prayer Mission Team next summer- it could change your life.

In 2017 we're sending mission teams to Spain, Iceland, Lebanon, Ibiza, London and the Middle East. Head to our mission teams page to apply today!
