6 weeks to 24-7Mission Deadline! - 21 Mar 2006

It’s about something bigger than us..

We are now 6 weeks away from the application deadline (1st May 2006) for the mission teams this summer." Writes Phil Evans, "its time to fill those forms in and get deposits paid! It has been exciting to have team interest from more nations than ever. Transmission last year made a statement – this year we get down to business!

Our current focus is simple – we want to build and help those who are building see breakthrough. We want to see churches started in some of the places we have been helping for several years. The growing team in Ibiza for example are planning a hectic schedule of 6 teams over the summer; the Macedonians have been on the verge of starting a church. Its exciting stuff and you could be part of it!

As you may have seen from the website we are now running with around 10 teams to 7 or 8 locations across Europe and South East Asia.

This summer we have worked hard to make sure each team is building in partnership – the values of 24-7 serving the local churches and organisations. We turned the heat up last year in terms of activity, but this year we want to focus and build in key situations that will last and go beyond the short term impact.

We are wanting teams full of passionate people from different nations, trained and prepared to get their hands dirty for the sake of something bigger than themselves. This could be the group coming over from South Africa or the students from Soho in London who are carrying the work forward in Macedonia. Last time we went in 2004 the team was on the verge of a church plant, and this summer we will go for that goal with renewed focus and vigour.

There is an intriguing new opportunity this year to join an exciting trip to pray along the Mekong River through Thailand, Laos and Burma. We received around 5 or 6 enquiries within 24 hours! However the other teams are perhaps even more strategic – Edinburgh as part of the worlds biggest arts festival, Croatia working with a radical bunch of converted drug addicts and Belgrade, starting the first church in New Belgrade, a part of the city with 600,000. Teams to Belgrade and other locations have seen incredible fruit over recent years, but can seem ‘unglamorous’ to those applying on mission teams but are making a big difference.

This summer we are looking to PARTNER with God in what he is already doing around Europe. John 5:19 has always been a great scripture for the teams, and this summer will be no different. We want to see every city and town in Europe fulfil their calling and purpose in relation to the kingdom of God. Each team will be sowing into that bigger plan. Are you game?

PS Every year a few people miss their opportunity through being indecisive; others feel they aren’t spiritual enough! Really its about doing what God is saying and loving him – we provide good training and support. If in doubt – apply!

PPS We are aware that this is summer for us in the Northern Hemisphere and not for you down south. Even more reason to come – escape winter!
