Wanna start an army? - 8 May 2006
News from the City of London Boiler Room
Every day before dawn breaks, the City of London is prepared for action by a hidden work-force; Cleaners, clearing away the mess of yesterday and making everything ready for the day ahead; Security Guards acting as Gatekeepers, functioning around the clock, overseeing all who come and go; Transport workers, Road Sweepers, Bus and Taxi drivers; all are part of the army that keeps London running.
The London Underground Army is an initiative to bring together the many hundreds of people who make up this hidden part of God’s work-force, uniting them in strategic prayer for the City. Its purpose is to recognise, honour and equip an army of spiritual warriors, who are already strategically positioned within the City walls, to take up their place as intercessors for the purposes and Kingdom of God across London.
We pray that together our prayers will open up the City to the Gospel in fresh ways; that salvation, righteousness and truth might break out more and more. Our vision is to mobilise an army to pray for every worker in every building in the Square Mile, showing unity across churches, denominations and nationalities. The London Underground Army will meet regularly to pray together, share stories and encourage one another.
We’re meeting at 6pm on Wednesday 10th May to pray for the City and to share vision for this idea- if you like to call forth an army! Come and join us at the Boiler Room: the basement 4-14 Tabernacle Street, London EC2A 4LU
