Developing Dreams Across Europe - 26 May 2006

"About 60 people converged on Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia over the weekend of the 20th May as part of the 24-7 Big Conversation process." Writes Ian Nicholson. "12 nations were represented with groups from Slovakia, Hungary, the Balkans, the US, Bulgaria, Scandinavia and Western Europe.

As ever it was great to hear the encouraging stories and developing dreams and to have plenty of time to talk, pray and eat. I recapped the last 5 years of growth and commented that the wind of 24-7 has blown seeds all over Europe but now these seeds are landing and taking root for the long term. It’s a new phase.
  • The Slovaks have seen prayer rooms emerge all over the country and are dreaming of a year of prayer in the nation.
  • Turku in Finland has also got a great 24-7 prayer momentum developing and the dream is for a year of prayer across the nation
  • The Macedonians are about to launch ‘Glasnost’, an expression of church aimed at young people. We were praying about ‘Glasnost 2’ developing out of the summer missions to Lake Ohrid.
  • Serbia has just passed a law in which only a few religious groups are allowed to be official but despite this growing pressure the church is growing steadily.
  • Tim Anderson from Cambridge commented on the weekend
For me, it’s a fresh appreciation for what God is doing through 24-7prayer, and what it’s meaning to very small groups all around Europe who otherwise are disconnected.  But it’s around values and passions and not owned by a denomination.  It is a call for a grass roots movement that can be liquid in the face of opposition and persecution, but powerful in its momentum.  For Europe its creating a reason for likeminded and like-spirited men and woman to meet and connect, to conspire and encourage.  It’s amazing really.

"It was great and for me personally meant a lot, especially connecting with people and feeling that we are part of something greater. Like never before I felt like being part of 24-7, so on our way home we came up with an idea to translate Red Moon Rising into Macedonian -  so we’ll see what happens"

Thank you to all who came and made it such a rich time – it was great to meet many of you for the first time. The feedback in the conversation was very helpful and we hope to see you again soon."
