Prayer Campus - 26 Jul 2006

A movement has swept across Tulsa University campus. This movement is not a new concept, but it is spreading like wild fire. Prayer is capturing the hearts and minds of TU students and staff.
Nearing the end of a stressful and exciting semester, the idea of a campus wide prayer vigil entered the minds of several people. What started as an idea became reality. The chapel room at the Wesley Foundation was transformed into a place that invited creative expressions of prayer. Each person who entered the room could leave their prayers on notepads, wipe boards, and the walls were covered in black butcher paper. It was amazing to see the walls completely filled with prayers for family, friends, missionaries and the campus. An inspiring part of this move of prayer was the unity shown through the campus ministries. There was not just one group or person praying hour after hour; instead it was different people from different campus ministries talking intimately and intentionally with God. It was exciting to see how prayer was being shared. For one week the ministries at the University of Tulsa were not about denominations, but about our one true Maker.
At the conclusion of the week, many gathered in the room to share their stories of God’s work on campus during the week. Some spoke of new relationships being built, others mentioned healing of past relationships. No stories resonated greater than those of the people whose eyes were opened to God’s love (a student from India received Jesus!). God worked through our prayer that week. The results and stories continue to grow and become more and more phenomenal. We look forward to September when we will again set aside a week to pray, 24-7.
