UK: From Upper Room to Mission - 6 Oct 2006
"We’re glad to report that things have been as manic as ever here in the UK" writes Phil Togwell (left). "Here are some of the latest, out-of-the-blue, emails we’ve received just over the past few days:
- From Aberystwyth, Wales: “I've run 3 24-7 prayer rooms in our church over the last 3 yrs and feel that God is calling us to open a prayer room for constant prayer like a boiler house in our town.”
- From Sheffield University: “I'm on the team for Sheffield University 24-7 prayer... how officially can we become associated with 24-7 long term?”
The stories keep coming… the Colchester Boiler Room community had a really good week of 24-7 recently, and we’ve also been in touch with Si and Ali Black down in Torbay, who are running a skate/BMX shop with a 24-7 prayer room, and are shaping their lives around Boiler Room values.

"We’re beginning to accept the inevitability of this shift. It is the way of the Kingdom of God… the gospel of Jesus Christ gets incarnated amongst people. From ‘upper room’ 24-7 prayer rooms, we’ve branched into mission… and as this mission has borne fruit, communities have begun to form. Many of the communities I’ve spoken with are still trying to figure out what God has brought them together to be, and to do. My advice is to take this slowly. Let God bring vision to birth – don’t rush it. Just meet and pray and eat and talk and visit others, and see what emerges."
