Alpin's Dreads Get the Chop to Stop The Traffik!Scot Bower - 27 Mar 2007

It's sunday night and a tired bunch of young(ish) Christians gather for a quick party at the end of a busy week.  We’ve worked hard and had fun.  Occasionally things got a little frantic as the logistics of organising a week-long Stop the Traffik event wore us thin.  But looking back we can say “when justice is done it brings joy…” (Prov 21.15). Yep, we had fun!

This sunday night gathering had something other than party on the agenda though. This was the night that Alpin had promised to lose his dreads in order to raise some cash for Kelly Greene and what God is doing in Boystown (Reynosa, Mexico).  Several pestering emails later, and we did it!  We raised just over the 1000 euros that we had marked out as a goal for the dreads to get the chop.  Before our evening was over, like a sheep to the shearers, Alpin was led to the front of the room.  They say the first cut is the deepest, but in this case Alpin was complaining that the nervous hairdressers weren’t taking enough off! (Mistys hands were shaking as she chopped off the first dreadlock!)  Needless to say Alpin will be visiting a professional barber today for a neatening up!

Thank you all so much for helping raise the money which will shortly be on its way to Mexico. Anyone who has pledged cash but not sent it yet please do so, before I start chasing you.  And if anyone else would like to give we are still open for donations through paypal (send donations to [email protected]).  Just mark any donations for ‘Alpins Haircut’.
