London: Salvo's Launch Monastery! - 20 Nov 2004

Move over Battersea Power Station - there's a new powerhouse in Wandsworth! Another UK Boiler Room was launched in Wandsworth, inner London, England last Sunday - with the local Salvation Army congregation there being reborn as a fully fledged Boiler community and it's one of the fruits of the UK Salvo's year of prayer back in 2002. They marked the event by asking people to think about taking an "olive" as a symbol of their commitment  to be part of the Boiler Room community or as a promise that they would pray for Wandswoth. These "olives" are actually copper rings (they look almost like wedding rings) used to join pipes together - such as those used in a real boiler room. Read more about the Wandsworth story here on the Boiler Rooms website....

Interestingly, Tim Rose of the West London Boiler Room in Staines says last year his team felt God led them to prayer walk around Wandsworth Common park and to pray for the area - not knowing plans were already afoot to launch a Boiler Room there.

Just a short time later at the 2003 International Leaders Gathering in Amsterdam, Tim walked into a Boiler Rooms seminar and was amazed to hear a Salvation Army representative speaking about the Wandsworth Salvo's dream of starting a Boiler Room!

Another fascinating fact:  Wandsworth's on the same railway route as our other 2 UK Boiler Rooms at Staines and Reading. So we're slowly making tracks into the heart of London Town - watch this space!

PS: the West London Boiler Room celebrated their first birthday the same day as the Wandsworth launch! Happy birthday guys! They're praying non-stop this week as part of 24-7's London Year of Prayer - so if you want to join them - book a slot by emailing: [email protected]
