Upd8 on appeal - 11 Dec 2002
We've been encouraged by the response so far to our appeal for help with our current financial challenges. THANKS to all you guys who support us already and to those of you who felt able and prompted by God to increase your standing orders.
Some of the response has actually been quite supernatural and gives such an assurance that God is with us and that in 3 months time there will be a great story to tell of God's miraculous provision. At one conference they took up a spontaneous offering for 24-7 and Pete Greig travelled home with a carrier bag containing £2,160!
However, in spite of such encouragements, we do still have a long way to go (we only received 34 responses to our email which went out to 6000 people!!!)
| You've probably seen the AMAZING stories from our friend Susanna (right) in Switzerland about the way God has supernaturally caused money (thousands) to just appear in her kitchen cupboard TWICE! This is not some dubious Christian urban myth, it's first hand account from a woman of proven maturity and integrity. It's been a wonderful reminder of the fact that God can do the impossible. He really could cause the money we need to just appear in our office one day (and we're certainly open to that happening!). However God is deliberately teaching us so much through this process... | |
This process is teaching us loads:
- how much we need people like you,
- that this really is a vulnerable movement rather than a big easy institution,
- that we are to depend upon God for our 'daily bread'
- that we need to be open and honest about our need because there ARE people who wanna support us, but they aren't gonna do it telepathically.
Right then, I'm off to check the kitchen cupboard...
