Iam6: The Year in Review by Carla Trundle - 16 Feb 2006
|
“What a difference a year makes,” writes Carla Trundle. “On February the 12, 2005 I was standing at the front of a frenetic gathering of the 24-7 family. IAM5 was in full swing and months of planning had finally come to fruition as 600 people converged in central London to celebrate the fifth Birthday of 24-7 Prayer.

“As we worshipped, prayed, told stories, and heard from Floyd McClung, there was a sense that this was a milestone in our journey. This crazy virus of prayer, mission and justice had spread from a single prayer room on the south coast of England, to 3000 prayer rooms in 62 nations: 24-7 Prayer in nearly every continent on Earth. |

There was a sense of gravity and awe; it was hard to deny that God deserved the credit.

“For me, February 12 was a personal milestone. During the celebration and stress of the day I embarked on one of the most important relationships of my life. Amidst the bustle, my slightly quirky but attractive friend Steve became my rather enthusiastic and very kind boyfriend. I had no idea what I’d let myself in for.

"Last Sunday, the 12 of February 2006, was the anniversary of those two great events. As I woke to a rainy day and slipped on the engagement ring Steve gave me before Christmas I smiled at the symmetry between 24-7 and us.
"In many ways this has been the year 24-7 went deeper, the year 24-7 grew up. No longer are we blundering around in the dark. We know what God’s called us to and it’s both exciting and terrifying all at once.

Blessing & Building
24-7 is here to bless, to give away, to encourage, to provoke, to pass on, to resource - to see young people rise up like an army fueled by prayer, on a mission of mercy. It’s where we started; it’s programmed into our DNA. We will always enjoy catalyzing weird and wonderful prayer rooms, sacred spaces to connect with our maker, but this year something has shifted in our dreaming. We’ve yearned for depth, longevity and permanence. We’ve moved from dating to commitment, from blessing into building.
The vision of 24-7 Boiler Rooms continues to spread: the heartbeat is Christ-centred community, the life-blood is prayer, mission and justice. A Boiler Room takes a steady breath in for training and prayer - each one followed by a propulsive breath out of mission and mercy.
Unsatisfied with short-term teams, our first long-term missionary family has been sent and established on the hedonistic island of Ibiza. Everywhere I look I see people becoming the answer to their own prayers, building the Kingdom of God.
IAM6
"This year’s Birthday has gone by without celebration. There is no IAM6 international gathering. But the last year has been one of the most extraordinary so far. Several prophetic words point to five more years to come, and I’m excited. I don’t know what we’ll look like at IAM10 but I know that I’ve slipped my engagement ring on and I’m ready to commit to the journey.”

Carla Trundle is part of the International team based in Chichester UK. She’s and her fiancé Stephen will tie the knot in November.
