URGENT: Pray for Ugandan elections - 21 Feb 2006

This is a letter from Helen Da Costa, an aid worker with The
Kampala Children's Centre in Uganda. In Helen's letter you will find several specific prayer needs - now is the time! Take a moment and pray for Uganda and for the work that the Kampala Children's Centre is doing there.

Dear friends,
I am writing to request that you stand with us in prayer for Uganda.
Elections are due to take place this Thursday, Feb. 23. Politically, things are becoming very unstable. The elections are open (it appears that two opposing presidential candidates could win) and neither would be prepared to accept losing. One candidate has been preparing to assert that the election results were rigged, and has informed supporters not to obey the police in planned uprisings.
Children at KCC, Uganda
There have been rumblings of trouble in Kampala over the past months and on one occasion one of our workers and children at the Kampala Children’s Centre was attacked while travelling through the city. There have been three assassination attempts on the current president, and had any of these been successful, chaos would ensue.
At the Kampala Children's Centre we now care for 26 children ages 3 to 13. We are preparing for difficulties that may arise - purchasing food, fuel, etc. in advance.

++Please pray for us++

  • Please pray for the nation. Uganda has known many years of troubles and seen the hand of God move in response to His people’s prayers to bring peace.
  • Pray for peaceful elections and safety especially in Kampala.
  • Pastor Arnold will be leaving on the 22nd.
  • Pray for our team of workers and the 27 children at KCC, for safely, provision and health.
  • Pray for the safety and peace of our volunteers from the UK staying at the guesthouse in Kampala
Thank you so much.
love,
Helen Da Costa
