Prayer request from the Reading Boiler Room - 30 Apr 2003

Due to the nature of this request we have changed names for annonimity and left out many of the details of the situation.

About 18 months ago we met Steve (name changed).  Steve is a long term addict has spend much of his late teens homeless and has had a spell in prison.

What amazed about Steve is that he was always willing to talk and had such a fear of the future.  His desire was to put things right in his life.

With the help of a local charity we work closely with, we were able to take Steve for an interview in a Christian Rehab Centre.  He was accepted and we were just waiting on the formality of a place becoming available.

In between his interview and that news of a place, Steve was arrested and appeared in court on a charge of housebreaking from nearly two years ago, certainly before his previous jail term and when things started to change in his attitudes.

Steve has a lot of flaws, maybe he does deserve to go to prison again.  Our prayer though would be that his life would have the opportunity to move forward.

Working with the Rehab Centre and his Solicitor we want to ask that Steve be placed into the care of the Rehab Centre and that that would be agree by a local magistrate rather than the case going to Crown Court.

If you feel able to would you pray.

This situation highlights many of the daily issues we face in Reading and we work with extremely needy kids.  If you can pray, help or give to us then that would really make a difference.

Thank you

Andy
