UK: Police pray - 27 Oct 2004

A radio operator from the West Yorkshire Police in England organised a prayer room for her police force colleagues to visit during their shifts.

Kate K writes on 24-7talkback: "Thanks for all your prayers and ideas.  It has been an amazing 24 hours. One of the guys in my cell (erm - that's homegroup NOT prison cell - Ed!) slept at church in case anyone didn't turn up for their slot, bless him - he made tea and coffee for everyone that came.

One of my colleagues, a civilian who works on the helpdesk at a police station in Bradford rang me this afternoon in a bit of a tizz: 'Kate I've just spent an hour in your prayer room, I was watching the video on Open Doors and praying for guy on it called Brian and all of a sudden gibberish started coming out of my mouth? Complete gobbledy gook What's going on?'

Explained to her all about the phenomenon of speaking in tongues.Gave her some Bible references, she is absolutely buzzing!

I thought I was all 24-7'nd out up to that point, it's been hard work organising the prayer room and I thought it would be a cold day in hell before I did it again, but now I say bring it on!!!

I know I'm gonna get loads more positive feedback at church. My next cunning plan is to set up a prayer room in a police station, watch this space!"
