UK: vicar flat out on the floor.... - 16 Dec 2004
Two separate weeks of 24-7 prayer in Essex, east of London recently converged in one extraordinary gathering. "We spoke a bit about our plans for an East London Boiler Room," reports Tim Harrold. "Then we showed the Visionmix video and got people to pray for each other."
"There were people from Baptist, Evangelical, Anglican, Methodist and charismatic churches," says Tim, "and we talked about the potential of unity (Psalm 133, John 17:20-23, 2 Chronicles 7:14), showing the Inuit bit from the Transformations II video where God turns up at a youth united service sounding like a Harrier jump jet. As we showed this," he says, "I began to get a bit expectant... I sensed something big could potentially break out..."
"Then we played the actual recording of "The vision" and this time we got really zapped. The programme went out the window. We decided to wait on God - and his presence in that place became tangible, heavy, thick, electric.

My wife Vera found the bit in Revelation where it talks about God thundering like the sea, and likened it to when we saw the Severn Bore (The Severn Bore is a large surge wave that can be seen in the estuary of the River Severn, near Gloucester, South West England. Ed) and asked, 'can you hear it coming round the bend in the river?'
Next Rev. Rosemary Pritchard (Stanford Methodists) gave a simple word exhorting people that Jesus is coming to them, but asking if they were ready. Rev. John Guest (St Margaret's Parish Church, Stanford) was on the floor by this time. |

The band played 'Can A Nation Be Saved?', and then went into ambient mode. We couldn't stop the service. Other words came. This all went on for an hour or so when finally the band faded out....
John began the 24-7 at St Margaret's about 30 minutes later by blowing the shofar. I wasn't there, but I was told it was like a continuation of the service. I got there at 10 (I had to go home briefly) and stayed a couple of hours. John burnt some incense on the altar (Leviticus 6:13), and we just sat there, basking, soaking and marinating in God's presence some more.
A major aspect of the 24-7 at St Margaret's was the opportunity to climb the 84 steps of the church's 'Watch Tower' and pray over Thurrock and the Thames Gateway, proclaiming the Year of the Lord's favour (Isaiah 61), for authentic church unity, for the winds of holiness and the Kingdom of God to blow."

The event was part of 24-7's London Year of Prayer, ending 31 December with a New Years Eve Celebration. Want to find out more? Email: [email protected]
