Canada: her church ran a 24-7 week and she's still going! - 10 Feb 2005
Last November, our church in Saskatoon, Canada, decided to run a week of 24-7 Prayer that eventually turned into two. I went to that room for an hour every day and it started me off on a personal journey with God.
It was an experience that changed my life ... after spending at least an hour in prayer for the two-week period, I felt so much closer to God and craved that time with Him.
Now, over 2 months later, I have continued to spend at least an hour with Him in prayer and Bible-reading every day. I also have much greater passion for God and for His will to be done in my life and in the world.
The results?
I feel the Lord’s love and presence so much more than before, and have much greater faith when I pray. I know that God loves me and is going to take care of me. I also feel much more power in my prayers because my faith is stronger.
I have a peace that I have never experienced before in my life....
As I've gone along this journey, I've realized that my faith has nothing to do with me and everything to do with God and His promises and His faithfulness and love for us. I can boldly approach the throne of God now: asking Him for things and trusting that He will take care of them.
I've also realized that lack of faith is a sin against God – it actually means that we don’t think He is capable of doing the things we are asking for. I've learned that nothing is impossible with God.
I also found that I can speak with more authority against Satan and his attacks on me. It is nothing to do with my authority but just knowing that God has much more power than Satan and if I rebuke Satan in the name of Jesus, Satan can do nothing but leave. Whenever I start to doubt or feel negative or physically unwell, I call on Jesus and rebuke Satan and his lies.
The Journey Continues ...
I still have a long way to go in totally trusting and speaking out in boldness but I am on my way and Jesus is walking right beside me. Hallelujah!
