'The most meaningful time I've spent on anything in the past year' - 11 Feb 2005

"I was in the room for an evening prayer watch, when I heard footsteps walking through the church lobby. It turned out to be man from the neighborhood around our church. He had been picking up some medication for his sick mother and saw our  church's sign outside ("Come and pray with us this week- 24-7"). So, he found an open door and came in.

We prayed for his mother and grandmother, who are in poor health. We prayed for his 2 younger brothers, who are in their 30s and living the street life.

We prayed for God's work in his life, that he would be obedient and faith-filled. We prayed specifically for employment. When he left, his agitation was noticeably less. He expressed how peace-filled he felt. It was a gift of God to me also that he came along.

There is a joy, an aliveness in the people who come out of the prayer room.

So far every slot has been filled; there are only a few left on this coming weekend, and they are going fast.

People come back and sign up for more, saying that an hour is not long enough for them; they need two-hour slots. The room is filling up with art work, prayer requests, journal entries, and sins being nailed to the cross of Christ.

It has become, for one exciting week, the revealed heart of our congregation, and it is very moving.

Just a personal note: My hours spent in the 24-7 prayer room this week have been by far the most meaningful time I've spent on anything in the past year. God spoke personally and pointedly to me about spiritual issues I've been struggling with, and much was revealed before the cross. From journal entries I've read in the room, others share that experience.

I am very grateful your organization has sponsored this movement, and am convinced of God's using it in ways that we still do not dream of. It seems to come straight from the heart of God himself."
