A Birthday Card for You... - 18 Feb 2005
IAM5 was a celebration for everyone last Saturday 12th and we asked people to bring a Birthday Card for the community with their favourite 24-7 memory in. Many were moving and inspiring, infact there were so many that we're going to have to put them up in installments!
Below are the first few, read, be encouraged and lets look forward to the next five years!
“I first came across this crazy 24-7 idea when I came to Uni. At the CU house party there was a 24-7 Prayer Room running for the duration of the weekend. For me it was an amazing experience of really connecting with God and I didn’t want to leave his presence I felt there. Since then ‘Awakening Cry’ and ‘Red Moon Rising’ have spoken to me more than anything else I’ve read (except the Bible). The Vision is real, it makes so much sense to me and has brought understanding to years of meaningless Christian teaching, God is doing a good thing. Come on!

“Happy Birthday 24-7! My favourite memory is working in the furnace room at Soul in the City, spending the evening at the check-in point. We saw people coming back with prayer requests and then coming back the next night exited about how God had answered the prayers. An amazing week of seeing God move in power and strength and watching young people get more and more excited about him.

“Happy Birthday 24-7! So many memories! I remember praying for my Brother, leaving the prayer room and within an hour or two having a really in-depth talk about his life and about God. I remember not-yet-Christians coming into the Prayer Room hardly knowing why they were there! Intimacy, struggles, painting, afro-celt music. A place to make an altar.
Richard”

“My favourite 24-7 memory is just being alone and still with God – it’s amazing,
Louise”
“One of my favourite memories of 24-7 Prayer:
Praying with a bunch of seven-year-old kids in a lava lamp lit room, filled with balloons, post-it notes, paint and solemn faces. Every child brought forth their most heart-felt needs and desires, from an end to bullying to saving penguins in the Antarctic. For some reason they all instinctively knew they could ask their Father for anything; not all were Christians or knew God. They ended up loving the tiny prayer room, eager to talk to God – and all gave their lives to Jesus during the ‘prayer room’ time!
Praise God! Keep running the race!”
Keep your eyes peeled for more Birthday messages to come!
