USA: 'God broke our hearts for his hurting children' - 15 Mar 2005

"God has really united our campus through this prayer room," Amy Young writes from the University of Utah where the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship has been praying 24-7 since February 17.

"It has brought together several different campus ministries (InterVarsity
Christian Fellowship, Campus Crusade, The Salt Company).  God has drawn our community down to a deeper spiritual level with Him.

The Holy Spirit filled this prayer room from the begining, there was an overwhelming sense of joy and a common theme of freedom and rejoicing felt by almost everyone during our first week.
'We have become open and vulnerable as a community, sensitive to those hurting around us...'
'

The following weeks I felt God breaking our hearts for his children (those hurting and lost in our community as well as on our campus), God also brought conviction and a deeper sense of our depravity and constant need for him.

We have become open and vulnerable as a community, sensitive to those hurting around us...God is teaching us to care for one another and love each other better.

Everyone is saddened to close up the prayer room but individuals are excited for the challenge to continue praying daily and praying more as a community.

We are now transitioning into a time of mission, to actively follow God's plan for us and this campus that he has shown us through these weeks of constant prayer. We have decided to keep coming back to "seasons of 24-7 prayer" throughout the year.

Many people have approached me in gratitude saying that meeting God in this prayer room has been the best thing that's happened to them and it's been amazing how it's united the Christian community here at the University of Utah.

We feel this is just the begining of what God is doing here."
