Northern Ireland: 'I've never prayed like I did this week' - 8 Apr 2005
Kathryn, from Portadown, Northern Ireland writes;
"Well our week has finished. We had our ups and downs, support and opposition, good times and hard times, but throughout it all God's goodness and faithfulness was evident. A lot of the prayer focus seemed based around unity in our town and the hearts of the people that were in the room all week saw that as essential for God to break through in Portadown. Aside from praying for that unity we realise that it will come as a consequence of people being humbled and broken and full of love for each other, it has to be a God thing, otherwise it is superficial.There are many stories of amazing God things that happened through the week - from the provision of materials for ridciously cheap prices (eveytime we went to buy some arty thing it cost no more than 95p!) to seeing angels, to people finding great emotional healing, to people praying for dark areas of the town and the next morning waking up to hear that there had been one of the largest drugs seige ever that night, during the outreach stuff that was done God sent the right people to the right doors - so they were able to relate to each other and talk, and listen and be loved and be prayed for.
Going out on Easter Sunday morning at 5:30am and leaving Creme Eggs with a message that Jesus is alive and loves You on the doorsteps of random people around the town and then celebrating in the middle of the town with our own Easter declaration - reading the Resurrection story in the middle of the town and worshipping outside is something none of us will ever forget! To the final celebration last night when prophetic words were given over the town about the tide turning with the forgotten people, with an underground/silent revolution taking place and with a town full of miracles and transformation. How can we not say that God has been good to us this week?!As I was chatting with a 17 year old today about the week, she honestly shared how the week was for her, this sums up a lot of what God was doing;
"I didn't want to be a part of 24-7, I just didn't know how to pray, I found it really hard. I knew it was a good thing, but I didn't want to be a part of it, I thought it wasn't for me, but there I was, sitting in the prayer room nearly every day crying. I've never prayed like I did this week, never had the faith, or the words given to me. This week has been about Christ being risen and loving Portadown!"
I could say so much more but I think I'll leave it there."
24-7 Comment: With a gathering of people who've been involved in 24-7prayer rooms across Northern Ireland (and some from the Republic of Ireland) happening within the next fortnight, we're hoping to be able to bring more news of what God's up to there! Pray for this place!
