India: prayer room Oasis in the slums - 3 May 2005

"We are currently praying in  Bangalore, India as part of the 40 days of 24/7 prayer Oasis is undertaking globally. This is a first time for us here and therefore the expectancy levels were very high, God has far surpassed our expectancy!!! We come out of the room aching for more of His presence.... We never knew praying was such a passion with some of us before this, how quickly 4 hours can pass!! Our God is truly a mighty God!"

Please keep this prayer room in YOUR prayers and ask God that this will be a time of special blessing for everyone involved....

24-7 Prayer points
  • The Oasis project in Bangalore is Jacobs Well. Young women from the local slums train in the art of tailoring so that they might have the opportunity of future employment.
  • Alongside this, they can attend literacy classes, devotions, and practical support to provide their various needs.
  • In November 2000 Jacobs Well, Bangalore divided into 2 sections – one began a partnership with Levi Strauss, India, and makes sample pieces for that company. The other section are involved in making dolls clothes for a UK based company.
  • The Oasis website says: "The  girls who attend are excited to be involved with Jacobs Well and say that this is where they find love and purpose for their lives.  Most of them come from very poor financial situations and are happy to be able to work and support themselves."
