USA: diary of a prayer junkie - 11 May 2005

Tuesday April 12
when my friend (Brandon) and i were planning this we knew it had to be all God and none of us. it started real nice on Sunday. we had the prayer room all decked out with the prayer wall and lights. this room is already dedicated to prayer anyway - but sadly no one uses is or even know we even have this room on the Oakland City University campus. |
...looking at the prayer room notebook i can see the army rising up to such a challenge. not in strength but weak and broken.... |

we didn't have the slot even 1/2 filled up(still don't) but we had a prayer service that was filled with the Holy Spirit.
i was cool with that. i was going there anyway so i would take everything down then (i didn't like the idea but couldn't do anything about it). i went in and was devastated to see everything was ripped down already.
i unfolded the paper we had our prayers and praises on and teared up. just in that short time, what we wrote about was amazing . some were praying for financial needs (we are all students at a private college).
some wanted to be closer to Jesus. we prayed for the Spirit to move in and beyond this small room (smallest room on campus) and for unity on campus which is the main focus (it's a Christian college which was built to educate preachers and teachers in Christ, turning into just another college).
and my favourite quote is there: "If a mustard seed can move mountains ..then think of what a watermelon seed can do" i took a picture of it and some of the art work we had hanging then packed it up in my car.
i told Brandon they can strip the wall but they can't strip this from our hearts. we now have a prayer box still filling up with prayers and a note book we put what
have gained from our day and night there.

last night some one thanked me that we did this. he was struggling with going to Peru for the whole summer. he went there before and just didn't know if he should go back. to make this short God showed him that he is needed to go back. |
....this week has been the most difficult of my life, but the most rewarding. God has showed me more things about me and a lot more about Himself... |

Now it is Tuesday, i just did a 5 hr shift where most of the time i was alone with my Father. and during that time i was amazed at what God had shown me, a lot about me and Him and still i what to know more and see more.
Sunday 17 April
Sunday 17 April
this week has been the most difficult of my life, but the most rewarding. God has showed me more things about me and a lot more about Himself. i don't want it to stop but for now it has to. i pray for my relationships, the walls around my heart, and the mission trip to Jamaica that i will go on in May. he gave me peace, understanding and showed me His arms in others around me. how amazing is our God.
looking the at prayer room note book i can see the army rising up to such a challenge. not in strength but weak and broken, and in the box full with needs, we pray for other, even those who we don't know, and for our needs in one voice. how amazing is our God.
1 week after 24-7
1 week after 24-7
God is good. The prayer box is still in the room even after 24-7 week. the school year is about over.
prayers have been answered, many have not, but will be in God's time. we now have a strong team praying. we are thinking of doing it again next school year. we are having our annual Spirit Renewal Week where students lead in worship and preach God's Word. i can see the power of our prayer from the week before. still i can see God working though our very prayer of 24-7 week.
today
in 3 days i will be with 9 others going to Jamaica on a mission trip. for most of us this is the first time. what amazes me is the oldest person on our team is 22 and the youngest is still in junior high school. wow, God wouldn't have it any other way. it brings me back to that small room, just me and my Father. He showed me that his vision is us not what we are doing for Him but us. all those hours of prayer is showing through these days after.
still amazed,
still amazed,
