Global: Oasis prays around the world in 40 days - 13 May 2005
40 DAYS AROUND THE WORLD
‘…we are having the most powerful time in our little prayer room, everyone is coming away from there with the feeling that they have not had enough of the presence of God!’ – Anita, Bangalore
It all feels a bit like a dream... and I keep wondering when I’m going to wake up.
The OAS!S global family is in the middle of 40 days of creative, non-stop prayer, which runs from 1 May to 10 June. It’s a prayer chain that’s linking us across the globe to pray for the work of God’s kingdom: serving the poor and marginalised all over the world, shouting the good news through practical action. At the end of the event, at 4pm BST on June 10, we’re going to celebrate communion *simultaneously* in every country for the first time in our history, rededicating ourselves to this awesome mission.
The stats for 40 DAYS AROUND THE WORLD are exciting:
1000 hours of prayer, in 20 prayer rooms, with 20 local co-ordinators, across 9 countries, on 5 continents, with 1 single ambition: to pray like never before.
Staff, volunteers, gap year folks, partner churches, friends, trustees and anonymous lurkers on websites are all uniting just to pray: ‘Your Kingdom Come, in Oasis and beyond.’
Far more important than the stats, though, are the *stories* – like Anita’s above – which are steadily trickling in to our website and by email:
‘We prayed this morning and found an increased boldness to pray for specific needs, and we were overwhelmed with thanks for some key answered prayers for tech help here in US’ – Scott, USA
‘…one of the Oasis India peeps e-mailed to say they'd been praying for me during their 24/7 slot and what they felt God had said. It was such an encouragement just to be prayed for, but also especially with what they felt God had said. They were spot on. It's amazing.’ – Bex, UK
We’ve put together a special 40 DAYS website just for this event with a place for people to share their story, photos, a short movie, a daily blog and lots more. We’d love you to pray with us while you are sitting at your computer screen – please feel free to join in right where you are.
