"A couple of hours ago," writes UK Base Leader, Phil Togwell, "I was sitting in St Mary's Undercroft Chapel under the Parliament building with about 45 MPs and staff members, singing songs of worship and listening to stories of God-at-work in MPs' lives. It was extraordinary!

In an hour's time, about 150 Christians will be gathering there again, to worship and to pray for the Government and the nation, led by a team from Holy Trinity Brompton.

These are just two of the features in this week's 24-7prayer week across Parliament and Whitehall. Here's a few more highlights;

- prayer walkers were sat across the road from Downing Street this morning, praying for UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and his family. Within minutes, the Prime Minister himself walked right past them, flanked by an army of body-guards. They managed a brief "Good morning", which he "Good morning-ed" back.

- a group joined with staff in the Christian Socialist Movement headquarters  to pray today, and with Christians in the Conservative Party  headquarters yesterday.

- another group of 20 Christians gathered in the Treasury yesterday, and prayed through a list of points, including praying for Chancellor of the Exchequer (main finance minister) Gordon Brown and his family.

- prayer walkers took the 'line of route' tour.

There's *loads* more to come, so please do keep praying for the Christian staff in Parliament and Whitehall (and email us with any thoughts/scriptures - [email protected]).

And if you'd like to come and join in, here's two options;

- to join in with the prayer walking, please come to Queen Victoria Park Gardens, at the southern end of the Houses of Parliament, for 10.30am (Wed-Fri) and 1.30pm (Sat-Sun).

- to join in as a church, why not take on a night-shift (8pm-8am) and pray for the Government and the nation from where you are.

Fantastic!"
