Netherlands: Pentecost prayer in the upper room - 23 Sep 2005
|
"Well, here I am, at last, with a report of our 24-7 experience from Amersfoort earlier this year ," Jacqueline van der Korput-Minnema writes.
"We found a real "upper room" free to use! And where better could one stay and wait for God between Ascension day and Pentecost? |

With no disappointment I say that we did not manage to cover the 10 planned days of 24-hour prayer. To be honest, we did not cover half of the time. Yet most people who came enjoyed their time, and felt they wanted to stay - many came back for another hour! They said, 'let's do it again next year!'
Prayer was almost entirely focused on the city of Amersfoort. For example Psalm 122 was rewritten for the sake of the city.
There have been prayers for about every thinkable group: the youth, the sick,
broken families, the government, homeless people, etc. From the window in the prayer room, we overlooked the tower of a church in the citycentre. Very inspiring.
I have heard of people who were very blessed though these prayers, and several good ideas were born in the upper room, like a 'give-away Bible project' which has already started now in the Church of the Nazarene. Other new initiatives include a monthly 24-hour prayertime and children's celebrations in the hospital. I am quite excited about these things."
