Slovakia: Pray for the Gypsy people at Hlinne - 13 Jan 2006

Peter Cernak, a friend of 24-7 from YWAM Slovakia, writes:
"God is doing something precious as well as fragile: 24/7 in the Gypsy community in little village Hlinne, Slovakia. These guys are great. And at the same time they need prayers to support them, that is why I would love to invite international 24/7 community to pray for them..."
The first 24/7 in Slovakia took place one year ago, lasting 24 days in its capital, Bratislava. Since then God spoke to many groups and churches and there were several prayer chains running in different towns, villages and youth festivals. In one of these rooms young Greek-catholic priest heard God and felt his desire for Gypsies from the parish he pastors.

Gypsies in Slovakia, as in many other countries, are very special minority. They are so different in their culture that they do not fit our lifestyle at all - they are all nomads turned to settled communities. Yet many of them could not handle the transition and became known as lazy, thieves, violent, dirty… The long period of communism and ignorance of these problems only deepened the distinction between Gypsies and “Gagjoes” – white people.

God is more than interested in them! He loves this people of freedom and wind and dance and music and crazy creativity! He sees the gifts and plans and hope, He sees the present reality as well.

Old Gypsy shop in Hlinne, East Slovakia, turned into a prayer room from the 16th of December through the 23rd. Our friends there were able to help prepare the prayer room, asking God to show them specific things to communicate what He showed them as the main themes of prayer: seeking Gods kingdom and transformation of Gypsy communities, their hearts.

Please, join them and support them in your prayers: that this drop would become stream of living water among Gypsies!
