Maria gets creative... |
"We are the BMS action team for Sao Paulo this year, and we are working short term mission here," writes Laura Lewis.
"One member of our team brought along the 24-7 book - Red Moon Rising. This gave us the idea of starting a prayer room here in our church.
"When we mentioned it to our church, the youth suggested warming up with an all-night prayer vigil followed by 24 hours of prayer before the full week! The prayer was amazingly impactful as many people benefited from new ways of praying. God did a lot of healing in the lives of members of our church.

"We soon learned that several women in the church have dreamt about this for years, and the Pastor here now wants to set up a full time prayer room built onto the church balcony.
"We have a "share book" in which people are journaling their experiences. Originally it was all in Portuguese, but we have translated some of it:

“I´ve been a Christian for so many years, but I`ve never had an experience like that. To get up at 5a.m. prepared to come to Church to this kind of special place to spend an hour praying and studying the bible, it was the first time I had done this.”

“Good, very good to be alone with God. What do you think about making it double?

“It´s wonderful to be here and the Holy Spirit is here. I spent 20 years coming to Church every Sunday, but now I´ve met the power of God.” Rebeca Rebeuro 31/01/06 |
“I grew up in an evangelical home, I have been going to church for s long and I´ve been to loads of prayer campaigns in our church. I can´t remember anything like this that is so amazing. I´ve never felt anything like that before to come in this place to stop and pray.” Paulo Bastos |

"In the end there just weren’t enough slots and people were going in two’s and three’s - often when we turned up to take over the night slots people would ask to stay longer!
"Although the room is very small, such is the passion God has placed here for prayer. Although we have faced some problems we have always seen Gods mighty provision in this. |

"The church is now planning two more weeks of 24-7 before we leave Brazil on the 30th March - then the youth here will take this on, to plan a full year of prayer in 2007!"
