USA: University's prayer room unites campus - 1 Mar 2006

"Through the house of prayer at Ohio State University, a culture of prayer and fasting is beginning to take root in the Church on campus," writes Oklahoman Allison Brooks. "The long-existent walls of competition and disunity among campus ministries and churches are crumbling. We are being awakened to Reality and the Holy Spirit is setting our hearts on fire. A praying army is emerging that burns for God’s name to be the highest name on our campus and every college campus across the planet."

"The long-existent walls of competition and disunity among campus ministries and churches are crumbling."
Ohio State University, one of the largest universities in North America, was able to complete an entire week of non-stop prayer as a part of a prayer initiative uniting American universities. The OSU prayer team, who organized on-campus prayer for roughly 12 hours a day Monday-Friday beginning last October.

"The OSU house of prayer opened at with a vision that someday continual prayer will rise from this college campus to seek Jesus day and night," said Allison. "But it has not only been our voices from Ohio State that God has been hearing day and night now…but the prayer baton has been passed from university to university across America (30 universities total) to cover 40 full days (Jan. 20-Feb. 28) with non stop prayer (24/700!)."

“I'm actually really amazed on how incredible this non-stop prayer thing is going.  God wants us to pray 24/7 not just because of spiritual warfare and we need to pray and blah blah blah, but because He knows we will really like it! That we'll enjoy it! Man, He's so good. This 24/7 prayer adventure is shouting to me how much He loves us!  I've been thinking today why we aren't already at 24/7 prayer here at OSU. Multiple people showed up to pray during the night last night, not just those signed up to pray!  My roommate and I aren't signed up to tonight either, but we are going just cause praying in the middle of the night while everyone is sleeping is the COOLEST! With the turnout last night, I suppose more are discovering this as well..."

You can join in prayer for the OSU campus!! Here's a few starters to bless their efforts...
  • that campus ministries would continue towards unity
  • that the on-campus prayer would spill over on campus, reaching students who don't know Jesus
