China: Prayer is stirring - 3 Jun 2006
The song below was written a week ago by the man above - at the Great Wall of China. We believe it to be an anthem for this young generation of Chinese... There's been a lot of questions
Of what it took to raise this wall
A testimony to man's invention A landmark echo of the Fall
It makes a lasting first impression
Until you hear the ancient call
From all those years of iron oppression
Upon the backs of men so small
So light the signal fires on the mountains
And send some help our way
Won't you send some help our way
And I hope that you'll come right away
And bring in your arms the wind and the rain
Cuz we need refreshing
And we wait for a blessing
That only you bring
When you open up your heart and
Sing
So we wait with expectation
For Jericho to fall
And with full-throated celebration
We lift our voices now and roar
To rattle age-old foundations
To open wide those ancient doors
Release the destiny of this nation
Under the banner of the Lord
So light the signal fires on the mountains
And send some help our way
Won't you send some help our way
And I hope that you'll come right away
And bring in your arms the wind and the rain
Cuz we need refreshing
And we wait for a blessing
That only you bring
When you open up your heart and
Sing |
In the past 2 weeks, there were three 24-hour prayer rooms at three different Chinese universities. Read some of what the students who joined in prayer have to say:
I felt a little fear inside before I started praying. But after asking for what I should pray for, I just couldn’t stop asking for things. And 1½ hours passed without I knowing it. Then prayers still popped up in my mind. It’s amazing how this prayer room helped me. It’s a good opportunity to stay really close to God and feel his hand on my shoulder. It’s sooo cool to think of that we’re standing firm together in His name, confessing and crying out for His mercy all over the world... “Dad” must be very happy with us. It’s very encouraging to see how much “wallpaper” has already be filled with words... Praying from 3:00 am to 5:00 am is fun! It’s amazing! You won’t fall asleep! I wanna try it again.
