From the Upper Room to the Streets of Australia - 7 Jan 2008

Being involved in the 24-7 prayer movement has been absolutely wonderful."  Writes Rosslyn Casey  "Many of our churches have embraced it enthusiastically and expectantly. God is absolutely doing a wonderful thing amongst us."

The Southern Territory of the Salvation Army in Australia is discovering the power of prayer as they pass the baton from corps to corps praying 24-7-365 from July 07 to July 08.  Here are two encouraging reports from 24-7 Prayer Rooms in December…

“The upstairs room truly became the ‘Upper Room’ as Hobart Corps embarked on 72 hours of non-stop prayer.  It became a place of tears and healing, of restoration, hope and inspiration as over 60 adults, youth and children participated in our 24-7 Prayer time.

With so many ‘prompts’ to prayer, many discovered how fast the hour ‘flew’! Some spoke of the deeper level of intimacy they found with God, expressing this through painting, prose and music.

The Youth group began their 7 hours of prayer with some teaching on prayer and a time of worship together.  At 3 a.m. they walked the CBD of Hobart and prayed for the city.  On their journey they were confronted with and challenged by the sight of some of the marginalised and homeless of Hobart.

The 24/7-prayer journal contained this entry,
“God wants us to take His love and His word out of these walls!
Lets do it!
Let’s be bold!”

Amen!”

“A New Soldier was challenged by the whole experience and whilst at the creative table began to draw a picture of the Red Shield.  He found himself writing
“Not just going through the motion, but Spirit Filled.”
And at the bottom of the page,
“When asked by JESUS, 'Do you love me?'
We say, 'YES!”

He had spent well over two hours on this occasion in the Prayer room.  As he was traveling home he called into the local Shops.  When he pulled up he saw a rather disheveled chap lying on the ground.  He appeared to be asleep and was covered with bull ants.  He bent down and shook the chap calling to him to wake up as he would be eaten by the bull ants.  He had to do this a couple of times.  When he bent down close to call to him a third time the chaps eyes opened and looked straight at him and said,
“But do you love me?”
 He stammered… “Yes I love you”…
The chap got up dusted himself of and walked away.

The whole experience has really moved him and has served to strengthen his faith tremendously.”

A report from Playford

"We have Churches who are keen to commit to a second round of prayer." Continues Rosslyn Casey.  "Two of our churches have continued in 24-7 prayer -  Launceston & Noarlunga ( I think Noarlunga are now in their 22nd week)  Launceston started a week in November and are still going! Praise God."
