UK: Reading Boiler - the search continues - 30 Jan 2004
Abbot Andy Freeman (see pic left) says: You may or may not have heard that we entered into discussions about two prospective buildings for the Reading Boiler Room, England, over the last couple of weeks.
Both of them are in central Reading and both would have been well suited to developing the work we have already begun at the Forbury Vaults (the semi-derelict pub that used to house the Boiler Room - recently demolished)
. We wanted to say ‘thank you’ to those who have prayed and have been praying recently and to ask whether you could please continue to pray. A few issues to pray about are:
- Both of these buildings appear to have reached dead-ends at the moment. We are not sure whether this is the end of the matter, or whether God would want us to pray again.
- We have received a number of encouragements to look for a new venue either within the Reading Abbey grounds or with a strong connection to the Abbey history. The number of buildings that fit the criteria of the historical element is limited. Please do pray that God would open doors and provide us with wisdom.
- A good part of the process has been the continuing support, wisdom and input from those we are committed the Boiler Room, a group of people so much wider than the small team which co-ordinates its work. We want to thank you all for this support and to ask that you would continue to feedback anything you sense God is saying. In turn, we will try to feedback to you as much as possible what is happening in the process of finding this new venue.
