Pray for Parliment! - 25 Mar 2004
Lucy and I have just come out of an amazing meeting at the House of Commons with some Christians who work there – mostly MPs researchers and assistants. They are SERIOUSLY into doing a week of 24-7 in and around parliament – probably 16th -23rd May (tieing in with both the London Year of Prayer and the National Prayer Week).
The passion is all there, but obviously the wheels of Parliament move slowly and it will take a miracle to get the necessary permissions - so that’s what we’re praying for! David Landrum (the Bible Society’s Senior Parliamentary Officer, who co-ordinates the cross-party Christian fellowship) has a key meeting with a senior decision maker this Monday at 10.30am. If you can join us in praying that David will be given favour from on high – that would be great.
Prayer for Parliament has been going on for years but as far as we know they’ve never had a prayer room in the Palace of Westminster, or on the Parliamentary Estate….until now??? We’re holding on to Nehemiah 1:8 “Because the gracious hand of my God was upon me the King granted my requests”.
We’ll keep you posted
