Friends,

 

We have seen many amazing miracles over the last few months regarding God's
leading us to plant a Boiler Room here in Kansas City.  Up until today we
have faced absolutely no problems and there has been nothing but wonderful
relationship and God's surprising provision.  I mean it is fairly incredible
that we prayer walked into a rather large house and by our second meeting
were offered to rather large floors with minimal questions asked.  We have
alot to be thankful in the process so far and I was always kinda waiting for

something to be difficult and it just never came.  That is until today.

 

I got a call from Jan Rassi who is the director of the Shepherd's Center. 
For those of you who don't know that part of the story the Shepherd Center
is a interfaith ministry where the elderly serve the  homebound in Kansas
City.  They have been in ministry out of the house on campus for 32 years
now.  They are the ministry which has been very excited to have us come in
and share there space in return for services.  We are happy to do these
services because of our value for serving and justice which is one of the
main pillars of Boiler Rooms. 

 

Anyways, today Jan explained to me that there are some concerns from the board that we need to discuss.  She seemed very down about the things that were brought up from the board because she is so eager to see us come in.  She is behind it so strongly because she understands that a ton of young people like us would provide a huge boost in there efforts and really has a vision for the generations working together.

 

The concerns of the board seem to be around our community be evangelical and

Jesus Centered which we have been very clear about from the beginning.  That

has been something they have been ok with up unitl now and even have
encouraged us in.  So this concern from the board really has come out of
nowhere right at the last minute before we have the chance to sign the
lease.

 

I was taken back by the report at first and after praying have some
perspective.  I have looked over the words God has given us over the last
two years concerning the campus and this Boiler Room specifically and i feel

very confident of His leading.  I am standing in trust that God will work
these things out.  I also feel that the enemy is playing some of his cards
at the last minute to try and abort the purposes of God.  One thing that we
have stuck to and said many times is that our hopes do not rest in a
building but in Jesus.  But at the same time we feel very strongly that this

property has been provided by God and we want to respond in prayer at this
time.

 

Please join us from Friday(1/20) to Sunday (1/23) in prayer!  Many of us
here will be fasting and praying for a breakthrough.
