Free Download: Dublin Seminar Sessions - MissionMatthew Horswell - 23 Nov 2013
We are releasing free audio downloads of all the seminar sessions from the International Gathering in Dublin. The Gathering hosted 7 different seminar streams: Creativity, Leadership, Church, Justice, Prayer and Mission - each stream had 4 seminars in total. We will be releasing a new stream every couple of days, today's release is 'Mission':
Mission Stream Overview:
From the early days of 24-7 we have recognised that our biggest challenge may not be what we do, but where we do what we do! Location matters and the gospel is multidimensional, bringing life to all people. As we pray God opens doors into the untouched places and calls us to move – whether into the workplace, across the street or across borders. These sessions will look at lessons from the movements of the past as a launch pad to engage with God’s mission among the nations.
Session 1 – Fergus Ryan: Beyond These Shores: Learning from the Celtic passion for mission and church
Celtic Christians were a dynamic mission force across Europe. Their monastic centres were hubs of prayer, community, study and creativity and teams spread to the corners of the continent to establish monasteries, churches and even towns. Fergus, a local church leader and expert on Celtic Christianity, will draw on the inspiration, lessons and challenges of the Celts.
Session 2 – Wendy and guests from India, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and other nations: Eyes Wide Open: Lessons from the prayer and church planting movements in Asia
The church is seeing explosive growth in the Indian subcontinent and East Asia with millions coming to faith. Asia is fast becoming the most dynamic Christian mission force in the world – with typical hallmarks being the miraculous, multiple conversions, fervent prayer and persecution. In this workshop indigenous leaders from Asia will tell their story, draw out key principles from this incredible growth and answer questions
Session 3 – Tommie Naumann and Rebecca Smith: Eyes Wide Open: What is Jesus doing in the turmoil of the Middle East?
What on earth is happening in North Africa and the Middle East? We see headline reports of riots and demonstrations but what is happening on the ground? There are challenging reports of persecution and martyrdom but also stories of unprecedented church growth in unusual ways. The contributors here are convinced, from their own experience serving there, that this is a unique time of opportunity for the Middle East.
Session 4 – Ian Nicholson and Jeremy Jennings: Mission models that change the world: 24-7 mission teams and Alpha
This session will look practically at two brilliant models for effective mission. Firstly, 24-7 teams, which have enabled hundreds of young people to partake in mission around the world. Secondly; Alpha, which has seen 15 million complete the course in over 160 nations. Alpha is an incredible tool, which runs in everything from universities to prisons and churches to businesses. This seminar will explain how to get the most from an Alpha course and how you can get involved in a 24-7 mission team.
